There are several different forms of terrorism, but in this case it's generally defined as a weak party that is bigger than a group of common thugs, and smaller than a government that tries to rule an area by intimidation, but can't actually control the area visably (setting up guards, government offices for people to use etc.) or try to use violence to scare people into acting a certain way (for instance to have a government meet the terrorists' demands).

There is state sponsered terrorism, but the government itself just pays the organization as if they were mercenaries and not part of the government itself.

There are also governments that try to control their own people through intimidation (China, The former Soviet Union, Iran, North Korea), but those are known more as repressive governments rather than terrorists.

Terrorism is trying to obtain your goal through perceived or actual deeds that affect innocents in hopes to sway government and keep the people in fear. Most terrorism is defined by the religious fanatics trying to shove their religion down our throats by bombing innocent market places in hopes to keep the people so afraid that they bend to their will.
Terrorism is not what the US is doing.

Terrorism can come from any one and anywhere regardless of race, religion, color and financial stature. Terrorism is easily defined as and act or attempt to cause "terror", You can go down to the mall and beat up some young kids and take their money while shouting racist slurs... and guess what? you caused Fear and terror. regardless of the after action you managed to cause terror within someone's well being. Sadly, these days alot of ignorant people and social conditioned self righteous college (Dwayne G)<--kids hear terrorism and automatically think: "Middle Eastern people, or the U.S. Government.

Did anyone who answered their opinions of terrorism consider the atomic bomb as an act of terrorism to combat terrorism?

So are two wrongs right? Ok, so blowing myself up because my religious leaders and convictions tell me to do so, while taking hundreds of lives...is terrorism.

Isn't bombing a whole city/country because my government leaders and poitical, moral convictions tell me to...also terrorism?

Just yellowcake for thought.

It is very difficult to define. One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

Flying planes into buildings and murdering innocent civilians is terrorism.

Invading a country and murdering innocent civilians is also terrorism.

The former is commonly accepted as terrorism, the latter is Iraq, 2003-present.
