Why is sex wrong in most of the major religions? I mean- it had to be "God" who gave us the ability to enjoy it... A good orgasm can only be described as devine.

Sex isn't wrong. Sex is great. And sex is best where there is no birth control involved. And it's best when there is no fear of emotional damage or physical repercussions.

Yes, by God's arrangement, there is pleasure in sex. If there is none, would you do it?

It is not sex that is wrong in major religion, it is more of the misconduct in using and dealing with sex.

Having sex for self-gratification purposes only and not for begetting and raising a child to become pious is greatly condemned by major religion.

One of the best ways to control a population (keep them under your thumb) is through sex.

Rome went the opposite way as most of the major religions, but the "laws" about sex in most religions were made to keep the people under control.

It was population control for the past eras when food and water was scarce and over population was rampant.

Also, sexual practices was encouraged by Pagan rituals in Celtic, Nordic, and Greek/Roman regions of Ancient world. Considering the pain and suffering Pagans inflicted on the then new cult of a singular God, it's only standard practice to wage an Eye for an Eye on the "barbarians".

It isn't wrong. However, it was created to be a holy thing between a man and woman that bonds them together for life.
Most times, when having sex before the bond (marriage), this life bond doesn't happen.
Also, Purity is a sign of holiness (holiness is something God loves). So, to be pure until you are bonded to that one person whom you were meant for is a holy act.

There's nothing wrong with sex, it's just not right to have sex outside of the marriage bed.

Be married before sex.

"Why is sex wrong in most of the major religions?" - I don't know of any religion other than the Shakers that teaches that sex is wrong. The Abrahamic religions teach that sex outside of marriage is wrong, but that is not the same thing as condemning sex entirely.

Sex is not wrong in the major religions. You just should not have sex with everybody and at any time.

I know sex isn't wrong in my religion. I think most religions want you to be married before having sex. None of that pre-marital hanky panky stuff, but of course you can always ask forgiveness and then all is well ; )

Many people believe that sexuality is carnal and is the opposite of spirituality. Where, I ask you do you come closer to being one than in the sexual act? Becoming one is the goal of most all spiritual paths.
