I have two dogs and I usually let them sit on my bed, I dont let them sleep there though
I dont want to stop them from doing it since im usually in my bedroom and I dont wanna force them to sit on the cold floor, the problem is my bigger dog (golden retriver) often leaves the bed really smelling (he farts alot!)
Any ideas what to do?\
Thanks x

One dog lives with my mum and one with my dad aswel so when they aren't both together during the afternoon I dont want to leave my dog alone too long while the other isnt there so thats when I tend to let him in my room x

It is sweet that you don't want them to have to sit on the cold floor...but you don't want your bed to smell. My suggestion would be to get a dog bed. That way the golden retriever can have a warm spot that he can call his own. Get the other dog a bed as well so he doesn't fell left out. Don't let one sit on the bed and not the other because they might get jealous. If they have beds they can be comfortable on the floor without you having to compromise YOUR bed. Good Luck!

"I have two dogs and I usually let them sit on my bed, I dont let them sleep there though" Huh? This made no sense.
If the dog is farting a lot you should consider changing its diet. It's probably eating a cheap grocery store food with lots of fillers that causing the gas. It could also be a medical condition. I would definitely check with a vet.

Oh man, what a dork....the dog farts and leaves you to suffer.
What you can do is get a dog bed for your pets, it provides them a place just for them.No cold floor and they're comfy!
As far as your dog leaving his gas behind as a calling card....it could possibly be his food that is making him stinky! Have you been feeding him things that he shouldn't have, like table scraps or one too many treats? Those can cause your dog to have gas.

If its the farting that stinking out your bed then you could try different food... dry food is better then can food for reducing wind... and u can also get additives to add to the food to help with reduce the wind... other then that... maybe buy a dog bed so you can have him sit/lie in that while he's in your room...

Yes,change the dogs diet, try Nutro Max, it is a great dog food, cuts down the stools, great digestive, makes the coat and skin gorgeous....coat is shiny and skin is not dry.
the bed thing, I have one of my male schnauzers, Demon 3 yrs old, he sleeps under the comforter right against my husbands back all night, summer or winter, then Koda my 15 wk old male Akita, is already totally house trained, sleeps on the foot of our bed on top of the comforter, between the two of us......there is no smell from either of them, all my dogs are on Nutro Max, no gas problems....now even though we have an over-sized king size bed, it is getting alittle crowded, Koda already weighs 47lbs.. he does snore, but heck so does my husband and Demon,. so I have to contend with 3 snoring males.....ha ha.......I love having my dogs in bed with us, they always wait till we get in bed, then one at a time, up they come.
they never get out of bed during the night..
good luck, I have fed my kennel dogs Nutro Max for 14 yrs and never any problems.....breeder 14 yrs.....

Gas aside, if you really want your dog to be on the bed with you but don’t want the smells he leaves behind, then put a blanket over your bed before he gets up on it.

my dog isn't allowed to sit on the couch or lay on the bed because of dominance issues. but my cats get the job done, fabreeze really does help and make sure to change the sheets once a week

well, as far as farting goes, your probably giving you dog some food ( that might taste good to him) but doesnt work with his stomache if ya know what i mean. normal dog biscuits are okay, but human food and bacon or jerky flavored treats give my dogs real stinky farts. try bathing him once a week to leave his fur fresh and spray some deoderizing spray on your bed after he leaves. they make special deoderizing sprays for animals you know.

If your dog has a gas problem, try changing his diet. Spraying Febreze after he gets off the bed would also do wonders.
