Hey there Mommies and Daddies =) I am in need for a double stroller. I currently have a 5 month daughter and now 2 months pregnant. I dont need it right away, but just want to inquire. I saw a double stroller where its kinda front to back, but the baby in the back was low, like where the basket suppose to be. It looked so cute but just dont know where and what kind of stroller that is. If someone knows what im talking bout, please give me the name or kind of brand stroller. Thanks soooo much.

The front-and-back double strollers are called tandem or inline strollers.

Kolcraft, Graco, Combi and Evenflo all make tandem strollers with one seat higher than the other. This is called stadium seating. There's one called the Double Decker Twin Stroller that sounds sort of like what you're describing.

There are also several brands of strollers that are a single, but can have a second seat added above or below the main seat. Phil and Ted's Sport Double sounds like it might be what you are describing--a second seat can be added where the basket would normally go.

You might want to try both types of double strollers before you buy one, though. I've used both front and back (tandem) and side-by-side (SBS) strollers, and I love my side by side. My two oldest kids are slightly under 16 months apart, but I've also used my SBS with a 3-year-old and a newborn.

Mine is a KidCo and was only 28" wide (the same width as a wheelchair) so it would fit through doorways and anything wheelchair-accessible. It turns on a dime, has 5-point harnesses for both kids and separate reclines, and has larger sort of all-terrain wheels and handles that adjust in height and position. I love it. The 5-point harness and separate recline can help with the issue of the 2 kids bothering each other, too.

Either way, you'll want to think about what features are important to you in a stroller to narrow down the options. With kids of different ages, the weight limit on the stroller may be an important factor for you. Be sure to try pushing it one-handed, too. :)

If you can find an online community or message board dedicated to strollers, that's the most helpful place to ask questions and learn. I know of one on iVillage . . . link below.

I think the one you're talking about might be a "Phil and Teds" brand pram where the baby is really low and the other seat is of normal height. That attachment where the baby is can be put on the front for a toddler too and then baby goes in the normal bit. Kind of like a 3 in one. They are expensive though. Like $600+ (in australia anyway)

Because you will have two very small children though you will need a pram that has two seats that fully recline. I think a side by side might do you better but I do love the phil and teds prams!

good luck and congrats

That sounds like the phil & teds double jogger.

Personally I don't like it, mainly because I live in a humid climate and there doesn't seem to be much air flow around the "bottom" child. Also they get no visual stimulation as all they get to see is the back of the top seat.

I had twins and started with a side by side pram. (Childcare twim shopper deluxe) it was great as the seats reclined independantly so if one was asleep you put them back and the other who was awake could stay sitting up. It fit through a standard hallway and only had a few occasions where we got stuck in checkouts.

I had to upgrade from that to a "limo" style again I went with Childcare. The only reason I upgraded was the girls learnt they could slap and kick each other in the side by side. I loved the childcare limo as it was longer than the others on the market. This meant the child in the back had heaps of leg room and I had a great size basket underneath. The back seat reclined fully (suitable for newborn) and the front reclined slightly. It was easier to fit down isles etc however because it was longer I had to take the front hood off to fit in my trunk.

Pros of side by side.... more leg room for older child, they have the full length leg support (can rest longer legs on foot strap). Both seats fully recline so if both asleep can sleep longer as more comfortable.
Cons of side by side .. kids can reach each other easier. may find smaller stores difficult to manuvere.

Pros of limo ..... Easier to get around narrow spaces. Older child may feel "big" being in front. mine was lighter to carry.
Cons of limo... some have limited leg room for back seat which may be issue later. longer length may make transport difficult. Font seat had "half length leg rest" meaning while younger legs supported but as grew older knees were bunched up hitting bumper bar.

BABYS'R'US IS A GOOD PLACE TO START. IF NOT THEN TRY WALMART, KMART, OR EBAY.
