How long will it take for my eye vision to go back to normal?

ok, so i know nowadays we have glasses and contacts to give us all better vision.

i wear contacts. i dont exactly know my vision, its definetely not 20/20 vision. but on my contacts prescription and everything it says -2.00 for my right and left eye.

If i were to keep wearing my contacts about everyday, Would it take years for my vision to go back to normal? or how long would you think it'd take?

should i consider getting laser eye surgery so that they can permanetely be 20/20 vision?

Glasses and contacts correct the eyes only in the sense of making the vision right, correct, while they are being worn.
(The new "correct your eyes while asleep" orthokeratology contacts do not produce a permanent effect as is aimed for with the comparable orthodontic treatment for teeth. Even when used to improve the eye's performance as part of amblyopia treatment, the use of glasses does not reduce the required Rx over time)

The glasses/contacts make up for whatever over or under power the eye aas in it's natural focussling, and this is the prescription "number", positive or negative,
(two more numbers for each eye if there's some astigmatism)

The sharpness that delivers doesn't increase with the number: like tuning in a radio station, going too far makes it worse, not better.
The final acuity 20/40, 20/20, 20/15 depends on how well the *rest* of the eye and brain works.

The eyes will get better or worse independenlty of having glasses or contacts. With most adults there is a predictable slow drift over time.

Laser eye surgery is "permanent" fix just as long as the eyes don't decide to change.
Although "pretty safe" there are definite risks, even with good competent surgeons.

I wore contact lenses for 22 years and never was told or believed that my eyesight would be restored to better vision. I had laser eye surgery to improve my vision in 1998. I had very poor eyesight with severe astigmatism at the time. It was great for about 5 years...than I started having real trouble seeing at night to the point that I wouldn't drive. I ended up wearing corrective lenses (glasses this time) about 7 years after laser surgery.
I was under the impression that the correction should have been permanent.
The place I got it done at guaranteed it for life...would be nice if they were still in business.
If you get laser surgery done, check the reputation and ensure that the equipment is the most updated on the market and the person doing the surgery is well-qualified to do it.
