I have very thick african american hair and would like to know if anyone knew of a good flat Iron I could use to get to the roots of my hair with out burning my scalp. I currently have one thats pretty good but my roots are always puffy ( I try to get as close as I can) and it messes up the whole look >_<.
Thank you in advance :]

the chi is really good but you could burn yourself i'm african american as well and i know what you mean use hot tools the sedu, or wet to straight any dark plated iron is good and the less open it is on the side the less it will burn you make sure to put grease in your hair but not to much good luck hope you get the look you want

Just get one with a ceramic plate. That way the heat is distributed evenly. Ceramic will not fry hair as easily as metal!
Things to look for in a Flat Iron:
Ceramic Plates
Adjustable Temperature
Long enough cord
Warranty you feel comfortable with.

Unfortunately, CHI irons tend to break or get weak over time.

I recommend either the Solia or the Sedu.......I got my Solia off Folica.com for $88 (love it). The Sedu is more expensive, but many people really like it. ^_^

Ghd is the best brand I know of - It's thin so very manouvreable. Or you could just leave it natural - I love african american hair in its normal state.
