This is the first time this has ever happened, it will float between reverse and 2nd gear, but won't go into park. The four wheel drive is not in use, I can't think of another reason? The key also won't come out because I can only park it in neutral with the emergency brake.

to no longer ask a stupid question, yet you're urgent the brake pedal suitable? It sounds like there's a topic with the risk-free practices mechanism that may not assist you to place the automobile in park or take it out except the brakes are utilized. Flick the brake pedal a pair cases including your toe. from time to time the contacts on the risk-free practices change merely get caught.

you need to press the foot brake to shift in and out of park. check to see if anything is blocking the brake pedal. if there isnt then you might need to replace a part or 2 near the pedal or maybe the pedal itself. there is a switch that tells the car when you are hitting the pedal, if this is out the brakes will still work but you wont be able to shift into park. get a haynes manual from your local auto zone. everything you need to know about this will be in there. i would tell you in detail but i have only worked on these parts in my truck.
