Is her pee very yellow or smelly?
Yorkies have a BAD history with Diabetes and kidney failure (Had one pass due to this sadly) and all older dogs have problems with kidneys, just like people.
I would watch her, try to take her out at her normal times to potty. If she seems to not be able to control it or her urine is very yellow or smelly PLEASE take her to the vet quickly. If it is a kidney problem it can be fixed as long as you get it pretty fast.
Good luck to you and your little gal.

IT sounds like your Yorkie is having bladder or kidney problems. Just like when humans get older sometimes they can't control their bladder it is the same with dogs, however it might be a kidney problem not something to take lightly. Dogs can die from kidney failure I would have her checked out by a vet. it sounds gross but if you can get your dog to pee in a bowl or cup. Take a sample into the vet when you take your dog. If it isn't possible they can get the urine when they have your dog there. Sounds like bladder control problem to me, lot of dogs can't control their bladder when they get older, but I'm not a vet and I would have her checked for kidney problems or bladder or kidney infections. Take her to a vet tell them it just started recently have them run some tests. It may be nothing but if it is a kidney problem if caught soon enough you may save your dogs life. If it isn't anything serious you wasted money on tests but at least you know it's nothing serious. Wish you and your dog the best of luck.

I don't know where you live, but at your yorkie's age, weather may have a lot to do with it. My yorkie is 2, and I have to force him outside when it is very cold. If this is the case, try a fleece cape that just snaps quickly at her neck so she's not so chilled. If there's snow on the ground, shovel a path for her to walk on. Stay outside with her while she goes, and get her back in the house as soon as possible.

Considering her age, she may be having trouble holding it. Is she actually sniffing around and looking for her spot, or does she just squat and go.
She may be having bladder control problems, and they do prescribe Ditripan to dogs to help control bladder spasticity.
Call your vet and get her in. They will make sure there is no bladder infection, and then they may put her on a maintenance dose of something like Ditripan.
Added: It is time for pampering. My dachsie started having this problem around 13. He lived another 18 months, but he just couldn't hold it in - mostly his poop. In any case, definitely get with the vet, and make sure you enjoy her as much as you can. Get all of the pics you can too!!!!
I wish I had more of my Hudson Man. He was/is an incredible soul!!! I definitely wish you both the best and hope you can both be made comfortable.

I used to have yorkies and they got older. Like all dogs they age. When they aage they are like elderly people, they lose control of their bladder. So thats why your 12yr old dog is peeing.

She isn't acting like a puppy, she is acting like an old lady. Take her to the vet to make sure she doesn't have an infection, and make the best of the last days you'll have w/ her.

Your dog is old and may be developing kidney problems or problems with holding her urine. She may also be developing dementia ( forgetting things) You need to take her to the vet for a check up to see if there's a problem. It could be a simple urinary tract infection, which is treatable with antibiotics. If left untreated, though,it could become serious.
