I will eat plenty of fruits and veggies and have a regular diet...so I think the only thing I will be losing by only drinking water is the excess sugar other things they put into drinks and hopefully a few pounds...

Do you think this is a good idea to only drink water...no soda, fruit juice, sports drinks, slushies..?

Most of those have lots of sugar and some of them other nasty things. Besides wouldn't you rather eat your caloric intake rather then drink it.

Bravo for getting off sodas. Drinking only water will not harm you. Sports drinks are needed only by serious athletes. 100% juice is good, but the fruit from which it comes is better. Personally, I would include some milk or soymilk for the nutrition as well as the taste. I would also add some green tea, maybe sweetened with stevia, for its antioxidant properties. A cup or two of coffee a day won't hurt you either.

Yeah but I think you should just exclude soda and slushies. Druit juice is good why eat when when you can drink one? Also if you work out or exercise its good to have a sport drink every once in a while.

I read in a magazine that by cutting your diet of sodas and other sugary drinks, you can prevent/lose up to 5 pounds every month. I have not drank a sugary drink (well occasionally...) since I read that and I think it definitely helped me lose some weight. Plus, it makes you feel less groggy and drinking all that extra water makes you feel better, more refreshed and energized. Good luck.

Water is the best thing you can drink. I lost 24 lbs going to diet soda and now I only drink water or crystal lite. Good Luck.

Why wouldn't it be a good idea? It's certainly the healthiest option. A good dose of gestational diabetes cured me of my cordial habit. (Cordial being sugary addition to water, nothing alcoholic, which I think is what cordials are in America.) Try and think of some other suitable substitutions though. Water, even with a squeeze of lemon juice, gets boring after a while.

don't cut out your fruit juices especially those that are 100% fruit juice, trust me I eat a lot of garbage and drink a lot of soda and other unhealthy things, the healthy life appeals to me and just choosing to drink water is not good enough, fruit juice, 100% fruit juice is good for you

I think that if you are happy with this change that it is great. Personally i am a 'moderation' gal. I have a root beer once in a while, juice when I am sick and just got one of those water filter pitchers that you can get regular or flavored water out of.

That's good. A step to being healthy. I stopped drinking soda a while ago to be healthier. But i think you're being a bit too hard on yourself. But if you want to be really healthy, and you feel that way i'd say go for it. Or ask your family, doctor for advices if you're still unsure.
