Occasionally I notice that some lines and areas in my tattoos get kind of swollen or just raised. I don't really feel it, no pain or anything. I've had them for over a year now, they're fully healed, ect. I think I remember my artist talking about this once, but I can't recall. Does this happen to anyone? Why?

I do have multiple colors in my work.. they're fairly large tattoos as well. It happens most on my leg, the tattoo covers the entire bottom half of my leg and is completely colored.

Many people experience these reactions over time and they generally subside all on their own. It is not scarring but a reaction similar to allergy. Most times it is triggered by sun exposure or heat and also most often involves the color red.

Scar tissue. I think alot of tattoos are slightly raised. Mine was and I thought it was neat. It goes away.

I think it's just the ink doing that, do you have multiple colors on the tattoo?
