Some are not fit enough to do this. My bro's friend had to quit because he injured his leg after it was already seen a possible set back for being in the marines.

The main reasons for our recruits failing basic training are severe injuries that will take too long to heal while at basic, but the person may come back to basic training after going through the proper procedure once they're healed. Another thing is just the physical aspect of it. The Marine Corps has one of the physically, and mentally toughest basic training courses in the world. As marines are considered to be the "tip of the spear" because we're the first in and the last out.

If you can accept losing, then you cannot win.
Vince Lombardi
Some fail because the physical strain is more than their body can take. Some fail because they don't have the mental ability to deal with the amount of information that must be learned, and learned quickly. Most fail because they quit. They get to the point where they don't feel that they can survive recruit training, and they accept failure as an option. It isn't about being in good enough shape. It isn't about being the smartest. It's about refusing to quit.

The Marine Corps is intense physical, psychological and emotional training. They are training recruits to OBEY any order automatically including KILL any enemy, man, woman or child. They are good at achieving this goal.
I don't agree with war, but IF we participate in war, we had better do our best to bring them home alive. (Better yet, don't send them there in the first place)
The strong willed person has a great chance of "failing" the induction. But is it a failure?
BTW: I was trained as a Woman Marine.
I do not believe WAR is EVER an answer for anything BUT I KNOW that WAR is a real event. Tragically, and if you have been in WAR you have been in HELL, it is not pretty, nor healthy, nor romantic, no matter what the ads depict.
Peace.

Giving up! And, breaking down! If that tear starts down, suck it back up into your eyeball, and never go their again. You don't feel sorry for yourself in boot camp or in the military in general! It is hell on purpose!
And Hell teaches you to be a troop at all times, which is basically being totally practical and facing reality, you are in for the duration, and they own your ****. Learn the rule and follow the rule. And the rule is the same for all the services! Only the style is different!
When you are given an order, you do it! Now!!
You can ***** all you want, up to a point! After you have followed your orders, and got out of boot camp.
It is so simple, but then, so is catching a bullet.

Ppl fail Marine Corps boot camp because they give up.
Whether it's because they are out of shape, they don't like the authority or any other lame a$$ 'excuse' bottom line is they lack motivation and being a Marine is not what they really wanted.

Injuries, some people can't handle the mental and physical challenges, lying to MEPS about an injury, failing a drug test taken at MEPS. Those are the main reasons I found that people couldn't make it through Boot Camp.

A major factor is a lack of physical conditioning. Those that are out of shape have to work much harder to keep up.
Another is mental toughness. You have to want to pass. You have to not let being yelled at, being tired, being hungry, or being afraid stop you.
In each of the military schools I attended, it was always the same. The instructors got your attention, gave you too much to do and you felt that you'd never get through it. Then, bit by bit you started to get the hang of it.
By the end of training you'd wonder what the fuss was about.

ACTUALLYY believe it or not most do not fail, some get kicked out though for drug pops or medical injuries and this is like 1% of the base at a time a very small amount. You would not fail but you may be there for a very very long time if you let it be that way.
Those who fail normally give up or get hurt or pop on the drug tests or try to hurt or kill themselves or others and this is a VERY small amount of people.
We had one in my platoon prior AF who wanted out so he faked asthma and got OUT.

i know why i would fail... i'm no where near in marine shape and 13 weeks is not enough time to get me in marine shape... i'm sure that is one reason. other people probably fail test, crack under pressure, have anxiety attacks or nervous break-downs, or the break or sprain something while there.
