general guidelines:
1) always pick an id that you will not want to change later. It will be your id forever, as long as your account exists, so you can't change it without giving up all your downloaded content. I added my clan tag to my psn id, luckily I have not quit the clan and probably wont' any time soon.
2) don't go too heavy on the numbers, people want to be able to say your name so they can talk to you on the servers. That's a good reason not to use "3" for "E" and all the other weird substituitions people do, also.
now a few brainstormed suggestions:

those would all look totally normal...

It'd be the same, I think. Maybe no underscore, if I had to change it. I like my online identity, and my ID name, and I want people to be able to find it when they want, or recognize it.

I have a couple in the wings, not necessarily to replace this one (I try to be careful with this account, since it's my main Yahoo account), but for future use with a really hot topic or in case my other answers account gets zapped (I've already copied my address book from that account just in case).

nobody can pick one for you, but here's how i pick them for myself
1. Something you enjoy (about the thing your doing it for)
2. A creative twist (no vowels, symbols, etc.)
3. Some random number combination at the end (534)
