I don't know what shape I should make it. I don't want it just boring circles. Like, something creative. I'm a decent cook, so as long as it isn't, like, a huge clock or anything, I could probably handle it. Thanks!

An '08 shaped cake?
You can put 08 sprinkles on it as well, decorate it with silver or gold icing.
Or one of those noise makers that you blow into.
It's not that hard to shape it, and at the end, use icing to draw a mouthpiece and you can add some sort of candy to make it look like streamers are blowing out of it.

Hmm.. I would suggest a star, writing 2008 in the middle, and sticking little flags or something on the edge of the star legs.

Round decorerate like the ball in timesquare! plate with shots of Champayne or sparkling apple jucie on sides... candles, 2008!

Make cupcakes and before frosting, arrange them into '2008' frost them as one with black and white. If you don't understand what I mean, take a look at these pictures.

make cupcakes and have them spell 2008 or make a 3 tier cake with confetti sugars, balloons, edible glitter all that glitzy new years stuff

can you do a sphere or a half sphere( I do that with my betty crocker bake n fill), make it look like the ball that drops at times square in new york or maybe a fire cracker
