Since Vitamin C is water-soluble, a person can take a lot of it without it turning toxic. A decent amount of Vitamin C is good for you, but anything more than recommended is superfluous.

I've heard that any amount of vitamin can be bad on your liver (obviously, it has to flush out all that you're putting into it!) But I don't think a few high concentrated doses would harm you if you're doing it while you're sick.

I think your best best would be to take a lower amount on a daily basis to stimulate your immune system daily instead of just taking giant doses when you're ill :)
