All rational thought on the subject leads to the conclusion that there is no supernatural forces. IF you replace the word god with vampire you would call a believer insane but there is the same amount of evidence, literary sources, to back the existense of both God(s) and vampires or any other mythical beings.

Sarge1572 i will answer your question with a question. Why not believe you can survive shooting yourself in the face? I am sure I hate the government more than you do. The US government is trying to spread evangelist beliefs right now and it looks like they were able to brainwash you.

Danny has stumped me. There was a real Jesus so there must be a God. Historical figures leave no doubt that God exists. There was a real Alexander the Great, considered a son of Zeus so by Danny's logic Zeus must exist. Also the Pharoah's were considered to be living representations of Osiris (maybe Horus I don't quite remember) so that means that Osiris must be real to.

Lykaion, you're right i am duplicitous, i am a criminal indictment that contains two charges for the same crime. Don't tell me about reading texts in historical context, I have a history degree with a minor in religion so you can blow it out your ***. I wasn't comparing the two texts, I was comparing the fact that the only evidence for the two is the existence of literary sources.

sugar bear i won't buy your text that can only be found in one place. Sounds like a scam to me. Don't try to convert me, im smarter than you.

Science is best when it admits it lacks all the Answers. It's theology pushers who promote Answers. Science explores Questions and comes to conclusions, something no dogma could ever do. Lets take astronomy and archeology as examples. Astronomers who find something strange that contradicts their theories can only shrug and explore the matter further hoping to discover more to further their knowledge. They cant hide what's in the sky. An archaeologist who finds something that contradicts prevailing theory can be made a laughing stock, be dis-reputed, and even made a black sheep. That evidence can be destroyed/stolen/laughed down. Remember all the ruckus over the 'hobbit' skeletons on that island? Science is very important to further mankind. I think it should conduct itself with humility and dignity and admit there is still more to learn, something arrogant blow-hards with Answers to promote cannot.

None of what you say is true. If you find things that are formed and shaped with intricate detail, one would surmise a creative intellect behind them. No archaeologist digs up a statue and concludes it formed by accident or through forces of nature. Neither can you simply write off God because you lump him together with pink elephants and such. Jesus Christ was real, and what he did was real and gave evidence of God. Scientifically you couldn't prove what I ate for breakfast last week, but evidentially you would likely be able to reconstruct the most reasonably certain menu. It is not silly to believe in God, any more than it is silly to believe you exist. I think it less likely that Yahoo Answers just indiscriminately wrote this question via computer. I'll bet you are a real person, but then again, I could insert "vampire" and believe in that as well, right?

You are very duplicitous or very ignorant. The textual evidence "supporting" vampires is...well, not evidence at all. The textual evidence supporting the veracity of the biblical texts is beyond reproach in literary-linguistic terms. I suggest taking a Lit. Crit. course at the local university or community college. At least you'll learn the proper modes of examining evidences--In Their Proper Historical/Cultural Contexts--and not foolishly (or is it purposefully) try to directly compare literary works that are not only at odds with each other in genre, but separated by a thousand years or more (not to mention a thousand miles or more), vastly different cultures and incredibly unrelated language families.

Dude, by making the comparison that they both have literary sources as their only evidence, you place both forms of literary sources on equal footing and so you are making a direct comparison. In history, there are various forms of evidence, for example first hand accounts, researched first hand accounts written second...all the way down to "I know a guy who knew a girl who was married to a guy who had an aunt..." If you really have a history degree you would know this and would not have been so sloppy in the wording of the question. Until you show some integrity in your alleged academic pedigree...I will not blow anything out my a@@!

so you honestly think that the machine called Homo Sapiens that has so much information stored in it that the world's fastest super-computer would take over 1,000,000 years to download it all just happened by chance? you think that the Earth was placed the PERFECT distance from the sun that the seasons are tolerable and the water free-flowing by accident? you think that the atmosphere got its PERFECT composition to sustain life circumstantially? look at the beach. it has silica, iron, brass, and all the other elements needed to build a Rolex watch, but no matter how many millenia that beach sits there, no matter how much pressure, heat, and time is applied- a Rolex is never just going to make its self. and that's just a watch. the most simple single celled organism is many times more complex than a watch. so really- did time, heat, pressure, and perfect conditions really create the millions of plants, animals, and humans walking the earth?

Why it is because I am just a silly old woman, I suppose. All my life I have prayed to God in my difficulties (and my dear Lord knows I have had them) and He has looked after me and given me peace in my heart. But I guess you are right lol! I don't have much of a brain. My oldest boy, when he was at college, and I was working at the mill and cleaning houses to put him through, he would come home and just tell me 'mother, why do you believe all that stuff? My professors tell me that you poor old working folks are just plain stupid' and I guess he was right! You'll be all right now, you sound smarter than me.

uhh..
you would have to REALLY, REALLY be against the idea of God to look at it the way you do... so our science has found that most likely the universe was started by a big bang 14 billion years ago.. what prompted it? Believing in a God, even if just a God that set everything in motion and left it like that, is becoming more and more rational as our understanding of the physical world progresses. Of course there is only so much we can ever possibly know, maybe just a tiny speck of what really happened. Maybe people who think the way you do will eventually let go of their smug pride and realize we are all equally ignorant.

According to recent scientific calculations it is 78.56% more likely that God exists, from a scientific standpoint.

Do you call anything good or bad. God to me represents good. satan represents bad. Our sole came into this body at conception, from God. Without God there would not even be nothing. Our entire life is just a battle,as to which side you want to be on,God or satan, you have a choice, it is the only power, as a human you have.

even though I do not believe in god I am still not one to condemn and judge someone else, we all need to believe in something, regardless of who we are, I love science but in the end even science still leaves a lot to be desired, science does not hold all of the answers either, not in the least bit, imagine how many other worlds there are out there with civilizations of hopefully intelligent life forms on them wondering and pondering the same questions and answers we wonder about, it still hurts me inside when I see a person of faith tell me that I am going to go to hell, thinking I have no conscience, no heart, no soul, to try and tell them to try and explain to them that what makes sense to me is that we are all forms of energy, which we are, when I die I want that energy to disperse and to continue, even be it feeding the maggots and the worms and then on to the fish in the see or other forms of energy that be, it makes so much more sense to me, because that is what I see as the truth, God;s and vampires and other mythical beings are what our dreams are made up of, all of our hopes and wishes, and the funny thing about death and the end of our physical being is no one can prove or disprove otherwise, anyways, the rules of the bible the word of the bible is still much better than science or anything else has to offer us as far as how to live our lives, best of luck to you and good wishes

if you have a lot of scientific knowledge, it only reaffirms your belief in God. no way all of the delicate balance could have happened on its own to create something as complex as the human body. homeostasis is a very delicate, dynamic process. yeah, just by chance - a boom in the universe created it. I don't think so. also, there are disease processes by which people are allergic to sunlight and have sensitivities to garlic. people made these into folklore and created vampires. keep studying.
