Getting tattooed is very painful because you bleed as the needle pierces your skin to leave a permanent ink mark.

If you change your mind, it also hurts to have it laser removed.

If you can't stand pain then don't get a tattoo.

Well getting one is not a pleasant feeling. I have five, and some hurt more then others. The one on the back of my neck hurt the least, while the one on my lower back hurt the most. The parts that were on my bone didn't hurt as much to me as the parts that were on the fatter parts of my body. None of them were extremely painful though. In fact I thought it hurt more to have the cartilige in my ear pierced then to get a tattoo, but I also thought that piercing was worse then getting my tongue pierced as well, which I also thought hurt more then the tattoos. Hope thats helpful.

They say the lower back is one of the most pain ful places to get a tatoo... but the day I turned 18 I went and got one (on my lower back) and the only thing that even tingled a little bit was the outline. It kind of gives you a rush (hence why they are so addictive) Think if it was so painful why would so many people have them.

yes, of course it does since you are placing a needle into your skin. But it depends on your level of pain tolerance, size of the piece and where you get it how bad it will hurt.

If you are good at dealing with pain and can remember to relax through the whole thing you will be fine.

A simple yes or no just doesnt work here for me. I have three of them, so I am talking from experience. Try to picture taking a needle ( single for outline and three of them for filling in color) that is approximately 3/8 of an inch long, vibrating it very rapidly and dragging it through your skin for a couple of hours. Yes,,,,,after a bit, the area does go a little numb, so it eases just a bit, but YES,,,,tattooes hurt. Your next thought is "If it hurts, why do you do it?". A couple of hours of pain goes away, but I am making a statement through my tats for the rest of my life,,,,so it is worth it to me. I hope this helps you.

To a certain extent, yes. It does require puncturing the skin, which does cause a certain amount of discomfort. But, if you want a tattoo badly enough, you just suck it up and deal with it until it's over. Or else get a temporary tattoo.

No. It just feels like vibrations and a needle being lightly dragged across your skin. Piercings hurt way more, tattoos are just kind of irritating, and they don't hurt afterward at all. Mine actually tickled when I was getting it done.

Depends on where on the body you get them, and your tolerance for pain. I got one when I went in to the Marine Corps, and it hurt like nothing else. I'm on my fourth one 10 years later and I laugh and talk right through it. It's an aquired pain.
