I would like to get an ID card for my 4 year old son. Just seems like something that would be good to have. He is gone every other weekend with his non-custodial father and I would like to have an ID of him with picture and info, should the need ever arise. I live in Texas.

Ask the local police about what you should have. You should always have a picture that was taken within the last six months, both face and body. They can also take his fingerprints and then give you a set so you have them. You can contact the missing children's website, to see what they recommend, too. Frankly, I would also formalize the custodial relationship in court, so everyone knows what is expected.

call your local police department non emergency number. Ask them, Also Farmers insurance has a software that allows you to keep a profile of them on your hm computer and if you have a digital camera it allows you to include a picture or the child. Call farmers and ask for a local agent that carries it , it is free you dont need to Cary any kind of farmers ins to have that software. Also ask mooter vehicle department if they do that. I know that ID are available not everyone drives or has a license but needs ID for other things like work or to have a beer. I would not advise a passport especially if you have concerns about this father running off with the kid.

Yes you can get an I.D card with picture, DOB... etc etc It will even have his own little ID Number on it. You would have to go to the DMV to get it and get more info. But that is a really good idea ecspecially since his father has no custody rights. Good luck.

i think its a good idea...just call the DMV and see what you need to do so and what you need i would also get him a little wallet and he will think its "cool" to carry it
that way if he does get lost i would also put your cell # house # work # and maybe grandmas and an aunts name and #'s

its important you have stuff like that i would also make sure you know what your pack him to wear so you will have some idea what he could be wearing

God i hope it never comes to that but i think your planning ahead is a good thing...maybe next time in court mention that whole "non custodial" thing

Check with your local police station. In Canada, there is a package that allows you to get their fingerprints and has a spot for recent photos and any information (medical etc.). It's a great thing to have and hopefully you will never have to use it.
