Adam was created as a man. He was then given a "helper" Eve, a woman and they were commissed to be fruitful and fill the earth with their offspring.
I doubt if God would have given all the responsibility of caring for the earth and animals and producing children to mere kids.

I imagine that when he put adam into a deep sleep and made eve, he then put adam in her womb and nine months later came baby adam. Something like a virgin birth.

Since there is no reason to suppose that god even exists, let alone had anything to do with human origins, I don't think about it.
