Sweetie, you need to take careful steps because you are still a child dependent on your parents. Your life could wind up a living hell if your family thinks there is something mentally ill about your transgenderism. There isn't, but you need to be smart about it. Please take some time to contact your local transgendered support group or the local Pride group in your community. Ask them to help you find a support group. You may have to live like a boy until you can get out of your house. You are too young for gender reassignment but you can certainly talk to a counselor about starting the process. You want to be all grown up before you do, and you are still growing.

Be smart and be careful. Just because your mom is ok with long hair on a guy doesn't mean she is going to take well to her son being a daughter. Best of luck to you.

Being a mom, she should love you unconditionally and stand beside you at all times. I know I love and support my boys no matter what life decisions they make. Just talk to her--I bet her main concern is going to be worried that other people will not understand and accept you.

Keep it to yourself until you really figure out who you want to be, and are on your own.
