Mine is when you hear someone refer to the acronym of NASCAR as the vehicle in which the drivers compete in, such as: “It’s a nas-car” or even worse when you hear the ever gut-wrenching “nas-truck“, does it sort of take away their credibility of knowing anything at all about the sport? This is a pet peeve question. What’s yours?

Hey "A" down there. I don't like broccoli, for example, but I don't go around ******ng about it or criticizing people who do like it. Let them eat the sh*t and shut the **** up. Why is that so difficult?

This is funny I so agree. I hate it when people who don't know anything about the sport and ask how I can watch it when all they do is drive in circles or just turn left.

The Nas Truck thing I haven't heard before but the car term I have lots.

I must agree with DaleJr8. People who don't know much about the sport or read an article here and there, then when you talk to them about nascar they have all the answer, tend to rub me the wrong way also. The fact that you don't keep up with nascar every week is fine, but you must follow it closer than that if you want to learn about ANY sport.
In response to A ,how can you have a short attention span and watch a 3 to 4 hour race? And yes they drive in a circle most races, but don't they do the same thing at the Indy 500 race?
This is my ignorant/arrogant opinion.

What really irks me is when the "new" fans refer to NASCAR (in writing) as Nascar, as though NASCAR is a name, not an acronym. NASCAR, ARCA, UMP, and CORR are all acronyms that can be pronounced as a name (although UMP is usually said as U-M-P), and should be written as such. It's not that hard to either hold down the Caps key, or better yet, hit the Caps Lock key to type an acronym.

Actualy, I went through my first 10 years in racing of people looking at me as though they were struck dumb when I mentioned auto racing, let alone NASCAR. Not a one of them could mention ANY race car driver, let alone who Richard Petty or AJ Foyt were.

I get annoyed when people don't watch NASCAR to know what's going on but maybe read the headlines in the newspaper and think they know everything that's going on in the sport. Take Jr's season in 2007. People have said to me how bad a driver he was and maybe he should just give it up. Well, if they were watching the races, they would know how many times he was running top 5 and the bad finishes were mostly from blown engines and when those happened he was running quite well. Those are out of his control. He had alot of bad luck but he wasn't a bad driver.

Mine is that people think that its easy. Go to a race, this stuff ain't easy.

And its not a red neck sport because its easy to follow while drunk.

Really NASCAR has given me a new appreciation for many sports. Football has taken on new meaning for me also because of NASCAR.

Motorsports can be a little too technical for some people to understand. Some people get intimidated by fast cars. They don't understand why men want to push technology to it's limits. They feel more at ease with watching men chase a ball around and falling on top of eachother. The ball isn't as confusing as the big bad machine that creates all that power, that one man has to control for three hours. It's just outta their realm. You can't watch every sport. Just forgive them for not knowing.

People calling them nascars or people who only capitolize the N, it's an acronym it should be in all caps.
