Also what kind of hair straightner do you use? Is it true the chi really locks in natural moisture? It says this but does it really?

Yes and yes. I use a leave in conditioner(sometimes) and moisturizing shampoo/conditioner so it doesnt get dry. I use some knockoff straightner from ebay, which works as well as the expensive ones. I would think it does, considering how shiny straightening makes hair.

A lot of people on these boards warn, "Don't get a straightner! They'll fry your hair!"

Truth is, straightners are awesome tools if you're not careless. They may not be right for people who have naturally fine hair or who dye their hair a lot, but most people can use them no problem. Just make sure you use a good heat protecting product *every time* you use it and make sure you buy a quality flat iron (not a cheap Conair or something like that!) And try not to straighten every day.....

The CHI gets great reviews, but I've often read that it breaks easily and gets weaker over time.

I always recommend Folica.com. They sell a lot of flat irons, the best of which is probably the Solia and the Sedu.

PS--I luvs my Solia.
