I live in an apartment building and my neighbor has a young dog...
At the beginning of the summer she just got the dog, it was a beautiful white German shep. I would see it outside all of the time for the first month or so...
In the middle of the summer the dog would wake us up in the middle of the night crying and moving it's kennel (they had the dog beside the wall beside our bedroom). The dog started doing this all throughout the day.
Lately I don't hear the dog whine, but I still hear the kennel moving, this leads me to believe that the dog is constantly in the kennel. These people are NEVER home...
I was walking my own dog a few days ago and I saw her walking hers, the dog was covered in urine (I'm assuming, the dog was yellow and brown). There is a horrible smell coming from their apartment nearly every day. I don't know if I should call animal protection or let it go (today our building smells nice), but I still feel bad that to dog is in the kennel so long... What would you do?

Call animal protection for neglect, they will go check it out and keep an eye out to see if it is neglect if so they will help the animal out. You will be doing the right thing for the animal it is not fair to have it in such conditions. If they are never home they should not have a dog they don't have time for it and all pets need someone who has time to care and LOVE them too! It should NOT be in a crate all day urinating itself.

Call Animal Protection

I'd report it.

I've reported animal abuse on three different occassions and on two occassions the animals were removed and the third incident at least improved.

You're going to feel bad. You're going to feel like the neighbor's hate you or are talking about you or might even retaliate. But in the end, you're going to feel fantastic that you did something...and trust me...you'd feel worse if you did nothing. It's worth a grudge or two to improve the life of a living creature. You have nothing to feel ashamed of: it's your neighbors that are doing something shameful. And if they're not doing anything wrong, then it's only a minor inconvenience. As a dog owner, I'd feel no shame in having an animal control officer come and inspect my home to see if my animals were being treated well. I proudly show off my dog's toys, coats, teeth, health records, training, etc...to anyone who will listen...like a proud momma boasting of her child's report card.

Make the call.

I would definately call animal control, the poor dog has no kind of life in a kennel. If animal control gets involved, at least the dog may find a better home and owners that love it.

The next time the apartment stinks, call the building manager. Or if you can call animal protection and ask to remain anonymous, then do so. The dog needs a loving home and someone who can exercise it.

I would call Animal Services because it is neglect you can do this without giving your name...if nothing comes of it call the apartment complex and tell them that the dog is barking all day long...
It's nice to hear that you love animals and you care about the dogs well being.

I would call animal control and not give my name. They can check out the condition of the dog and see what is going on.
Perhaps you can suggest to the people that they might want to pay someone to walk their dog for them.
If this continues, don't hesitate to call animal control again - this is cruel treatment and these people need to perhabs think about rehoming the dog.

I think you should call animal protection if you think there is a good amount of proof that the dog is not being well cared for.

You already know. Call animal protection and the police. The owner may be sick or dead inside and the dog starving. Either way the dog needs to be removed.
