That depends on what your goals are really. Everyone says the money is better...CRAP. Look at the pay chart of an e-3 versus an 0-1 (2nd LT, thats your frist rank as an officer) Maybe 200 dollars differnce. You gain MORE resepct as being enlisted first THEN an officer...(plus..army pays for college!!)

Go ahead and get in while you are still young. it will be easier to get basic over with @ 18 than at 23...trust me, those few years...make a BIG differnce.

well it depends on whether or not you feel you have it in you to go to college. If you don't then join straight after graduation. or maybe take a year off work odd jobs and then decide college or the military. If you go to the military first they will pay for you college... but please remember we are still at war... so don't go just for the college money. but if you are sure you want to do college and the military look in to ROTC if you think you have it in you to be an officer. If you are a junior and have good grades, look into one of the military academies.

If you go to college then join the military will pay off your student loans and you will go in as E4 instead of PVT. I think if you wait and finish college more doors will open up to you. The recruiters say you can join and go to school while on active duty. I think a thats a line because you don't have time. Todays army wants fighting soldiers these fighting soldiers are always in the field and training. Your NCO are not going to let you off of duty to go to class at 1700, 1800, 1900 everyday if everyone else is in the motorpool working in the cold, rain. Just something for you to think about.

If you want to make more money go to college get the degree then go OCS. I dont know much about how fun it is in the military as an officer since I was enlisted. If you want the degree its going to be very hard to get it if you go in enlisted in the marine corps, i cant really say much about the other branches but my ex is airforce enlisted and they seem to help you more when it comes to school. Of course being enlisted myself im going to say that you have the most fun and when you get out you will have the GI bill to go to school for free, which is what im doing.

Either way makes as much sense as the other. Just don't be one of those people who comes in from college and thinks he knows what's going on.
