Chocolate of any kind is no good to dogs, give him alot of water, keep him hydrated and keep an eye on him if you see any reason to get him to the vet. Good thing is in most milk chocolates, the amount is only around 1 to 2% actual chocolate and dark chocolates still have usually one 3 to 4%

I am not a vet - please speak to yours as soon as possible.

However, dark chocolate has more theobromine (the actual poisonous ingredient) in it than milk chocolate, but the amount your dog ingested should not be fatal. However, it can cause damage, including internal bleeding, so if it has not been more than two hours since the dog ate the chocolate, try to get the dog to vomit using an emetic (which a vet can provide) or by manually stimulating the gag reflex.

Please call your vet for more information, or the ASPCA's pet poison hotline at (888) 426-4435 (there may be a fee).

It probably won't do much. Chocolates not good for dogs, but it takes a lot to get them sick. Just keep an eye on him. If he gets sick, or won't eat and get listless, call the vet. My 60 lb dog ate an entire chocolate cake without batting an eyelid, and all it did was make him a little fatter.

If the dog is otherwise healthy then it would take around 7 oz. just to cause intestinal problems- and around 15 oz. to actually kill the dog.

The dog should be fine since it is 65 pounds and has only eaten 4 oz. However, it's best to contact a vet (or emergency vet) to get their opinion.

Also, if the dog begins vomiting, diarrhea, panting heavily, or acting lethargic- get him to the vet immediately.

There will probably be no harm to the dog (unless he's very old and weak or he has a history of seizures). Keep an eye on the dog for the next 24 hours and try not to let it happen again.

Call a vet, chocolate will kill a dog, do not let drink alot of water, this will only make the chocolate dissolve faster, it is a stimulant and makes the heart race.

call an er vet clinic, 24 hr one and they will tell ya what to do..

No chocolate is good for dogs...it will not kill your pup, but you may have some messes to clean up in the next 24-48 hours. Plenty of fresh water...a clean environment...and gather your cleaning supplies. Don't scold...remember who was responsible for the chocolate! Good luck and God bless! KJL

you always hear that chocolate is poisonous for animals but they never say how much chocolate. If the dog weighs app. 65 lbs then 4 oz of chocolate is not going to phase the dog. In order to do any harm to any dog or cat they would have to eat a few lbs of chocolate. Hope this helps. My dogs get chocolate all the time. They hang around and wait for my kids to drop their food. It hasn't phased them since and they are lap dogs. The most weight on them is maybe 10 lbs and thats pushing it.

well it depends on the dog. chocolate is toxic to most dogs.. but for some reason has no effect on mine. i would suggest to you, since you have no idea how it will react to the chocolate, take it right now to a vet.. and don't wait.. some dogs die.
