The =IF function ought to try this for you, yet what I even have stumbled on is that throughout many cases people do no longer stability the parentheses whilst the formula starts off getting complicated. a pair of suggestions: * Use hidden cells with information (e.g. the effect of (3/128)((x-3)^2) ) and reference them on your formula -- a minimum of till that's working. Then, you could upload the innovations back in to the formula, in case you so prefer. * think of the formula backwards. In different words, what's the cost of the very final fake subject -- and artwork the formula out to the beginning up. it may look unusual, yet you will locate which you're immediately balancing the equation that way.

Hi,

Have you tried using a Function Statement? I think you would have to create this as an Excel add-in before it would work, but it's quite possible that the argument list is automatically generated by Excel.

by popup box...do you mean a dropdown list?
or do you mean comments?

a drop down list:
-click your cell
-click data
-click validation
-under allow...choose list
-under source...type product1,product2,product3
-click ok

add as many products as you want...i dont know the limit on this.
after you get it working, you can go back to validation and click on the tabs so you can tweak it to the way you like it.

comments:
-right click on your cell
-click insert comments
-then write your comment.
