islam comes from the word salam which means peace.

we don't use objects in prayer

we don't have "routines" persay, we pray five times a day
-the first is called fajr, which has two parts and is before sunrise and is out loud
-then dhuhr, which has 4 and is at the beginning of the afternoon, and is silent(you whisper)
-then asr, which is in the late afternoon, and it has 4 parts and it is also silent
-then maghrib, which is at sunset, and it has 3 parts and it is out loud
-the last is isha, which is at might and it has 4 parts and is out loud

then you can pray sunna as well, which are not mandatory

many things happen at the mosque, you pray, during ramadan you can eat there, and at the end ou can sleep there, there are classes, at the mosque that i go to there are girl scouts, quran school classes, youth groups and a store that sells candy and other quick sweets.

we also make du'a, which is a personal "prayer" to god and it is not mandatory, but it is when you ask him for guidance. there are some set du'as that you say before you eat and after you eat and when you go to bed and wake up

and we pray so we can worship god
