I'm on the who asked should pay first. Especially if its something expensive and not expected by the guy if the girl did the asking and the picking out of the event. If its a dinner then a going somewhere thing a nice thing to do might be to offer to pay for dinner while he pays for the New Years Eve event tickets or something like that.

Everyone believes something different. I think it depends on where the two people are at in life. Older men, ones with careers that is, I think should pay. If you're younger, I think alternating or going dutch is a better idea. My boyfriend and I are in college and work as well, so we either alternate paying or just pay half. Then again, we are in a long-term relationship, so it's a little different than a first date. If he doesn't grab the bill right away, ask if he wants to go dutch.

Usually, the person who asked out the other person should pay. Some couples prefer to split the check, while some guys still insist on paying on the first date. It's really up to you as a pair, talk to your partner and simply ask which method would be best.

On the first date, the man needs to set the impression.

It depends on age and who has more money. I generally prefer to pay for my dates, but I like the old-fashioned thing and I am a geezer (42). If you are both young it is OK to go Dutch, and some people think it is fine that, if the woman invited, she pay. IMHO, any self-respecting man would at least fight to pay half.

Make him take you somewhere nice. ;-)

I think the one who has asked the other out should pay,,, it doesn't matter if it's the girl or the boy. Whomever asked the other out, should pay.

i usually at least offer to pay bcuz i feel guilty but they just push it away...i think that EXPECTING the guy to pay when u two arent in a relationship, is in a way taking advantage of them
