is there a way to estimate using paycheck stub?

Your last check of the year should list the total gross income for the year and the amount of taxes withheld. It would be helpful in making an estimate. Wait until you have all your W2's, 1099's, etc before filing, in case there is an error on one of them.

By the way your last check could be on Dec 28 and it might only cover up to Dec 21. Anything you earned after Dec 21 might be on the Jan 7 check and that amount would be in 2008's earnings.

Sure. If you have your last paycheck stub, go to H & R Block's website and use the Tax Estimator Calculator.
I use it every year.

For estimation purposes, I use this calculator, http://www.expenseregister.com/Home/calculators/taxCalculator/taxCalculator.php ... much quicker and a lot less questions.
