I'd like to lose some fat and build what muscle I currently have, but I don't want to gain muscle. Awkwardly put, I want to look "smaller". Can jumproping help?

Yes jumproping will help, it will get your heartrate up and burn calories so it will burn fat. It will tone muscles, but should not add bulk to them. Basically it will do for you the same as any other aerobic exercise (running, swimming, biking, dancing, etc etc etc). But don't forget a healthy diet too - niether work well without the other.

Jumping rope is an excellent cardio exercise, which mean it will help you burn fat. The only way to build fat is by eating more. you can't 'build what muscle you have' without 'gaining muscle' it will just happen. I suggest jumping rope, it's good for you. So long as you're not lifting massive weights, you won't get big bulky muscles.

I would think that you would lose inches and yes, become smaller... but, you would have to make the jumproping cadiovascular by getting your heartrate up and keeping it up to burn those stuborn calories. Running may be a better alternative to becoming "smaller" also swimming is great for toning up muscle and gaining that lean look. Good Luck!!

Jumproping defnitily won't build fat... but it reallllly helps your endurance! If you want to lose weight, though, I suggest doing something more than jumproping. When you use machines at gyms, you can pick which program you use. Just pick 'fatburning' not 'muscle building'

Jump rope builds muscles and reduces fat. The more effort you put in it the more you'll notice. I'm sure it would take a little time to show.

I don't see how any form of exercise would help INCREASE fat. Jumproping isn't exactly weightlifting, so I doubt you'd build much muscle through this exercise.

welllllllll building muscle - doesn't make you smaller
but will make you less fat

muscle is bulk - and that's a good thing

look up BFFM - burn the fat - feed the muscle

I think someone may have a free commentary who has done the program - and that's good advice

have a great 2008

I would think so. I know it burns fat and builds stamina... it will most likely build muscle in the legs if anything and maybe a little in the forearms.. but i wouldn't think it would be noticeable. Not 100% sure though.
