Or do you start from scratch from the lowliest of creatures and slowly work your way up via reincarnation, thru the millions of species before you get to be a human and make a conscience decision to be good to get to Nirvana?

If it's about becoming more aware and intelligent then one would come to the conclusion that it doesn't make any sense.

yeah thats why i levitate everywhere i go. i cant stand the idea of crushing all the poor worms just trying to work thier way up to insecthood.
poor lil fellars.

its actually a good question, and illustrates how reincarnation dosent make sense. slugs and worms are still being created( so apprently new souls are still being created), eventually this earth would have people falling off the planet due to overpopulation. in fact , it should have happened long ago with this reasoning.

It is not so much about being good or bad - but of becoming more aware and intelligent.
Reincarnation is not about one species reincarnating into another species...
