Ok, I was not going to do this but given the kind of answers I've gotten so far, here it goes…
1. I did not say that I believe building a snowman is Haram
2. If I knew the answer for this (if this is right or wrong, and why) I wouldn’t be asking here
3. I heard it from a Muslim person, and I am thinking she maybe referring to the fact that in Islam the building of statues is prohibited…but I am not sure that building a snowman with your kids apply, and that is the reason I am asking here

i have never heard of any muslims here in my country mentioning that building a snowman is haram. Important is the intention of building a snowman is not to pray to it but just for the fun of it.

no there is no good explanation. lol
Its a snowman!!...can we have a little 'fun' in islam ppl? Every single thing is not haram!

"And do not say , concerning the

falsehood which your tongues utter

" this halal and this haram" in order to

fabricate a lie against Allah;

assuredly, those who fabricate lies

against Allah will never prosper.16/116

"O ye who believe, do not make haram the

good things which Allah has made halal for you.

And do not transgress; Allah does not like the

transgressors. And eat of what Allah has provided

for you, lawful and good. And fear Allah in whom

you believe"(5/87.88)

Because it will look like a human being and only Allah (SWT) can create living creatures like humans and animals.
By the way: I just have heard that stuffed toys and stuffs like that are haram too, so I'm gonna give away my "collection" to an orphanage.
