I am looking for a book that introduces someone to firearms, different types, the parts of a gun and other basic stuff. I have trouble finding one online. Any suggestions from you fine people?

There are plenty of good books available.

A great read on the development of firearms up to the early years of the 20th Century would be W.W. Greener's The Gun and It's Development.

Elmer Keith's great work on handguns, Sixguns, it a classic as is his book Keith on Rifles.

Charlie Sharpe's The Rifle in America covers the development of long guns from colonial times up to the 1930's.

All of these and many more are available from the Firearms Classic Library. http://www.palladiumpress.com/libraryseries.asp#1

The Military Book Club also offers a number of books on firearms development, and maintainence. http://www.militarybookclub.com/doc/full_site_enrollment/fse_browse_feature.jhtml;jsessionid=SOCP3CG1GZT32CTI4ENCFGA?_requestid=6754

The NRA Library also offers many firearms books. I highly recommend the NRA Firearms Source Book, it is jampacked with technical information. http://www.nrastore.com/nra/Products.aspx?cat=Videos

Someone else recently asked me a similar question, figuring I'd have on on my book shelf. There are many on safety and shooting techniques, but few books on general firearms basics. The best I could do for him was a book on cleaning firearms which named all the parts, and explained what did what and why. Sorry I didn't write down the title. Try this link below for a 20 pg. intro I also saw on the web.
