Very sweet and usually good natured. Also can be very high maintenance as they are prone to a host of genetic health problems--this can make them expensive to own and care for. Be aware!

The English Bulldog is usually extremely calm. In most cases they will lay on their backs and enjoy a good belly rub more often than anything else. They are prone to have problems with heat exhaustion etc. Do a little research on he breed and meet and greet the sire and dam of the dog you choose.

add to the top two, the shed a lot, and it's itchy, they can be a little smelly and can have health problems so make sure you go to a Responsible breeder....
They need to be socialized with other dogs and people, they can be a bullies (no pun intended) if they are not well socialized. I refuse to babysit my stepmoms now because they are aggressive towards my dogs, but neither were around any other dogs but each other as young dogs.
As long as you work with the training and socialization as puppies they are wonderful little dogs.

I work at a Dog Kennel, and most of the eng.bulldogs that I've met have been Dog Aggressive... but for the most part are very sweet, like my buddy Angus... haha... He's very sweet... But yeah they are great dogs, You just have to watch out with the "Cherry Eyes".. [some get them...] and dont be afraid of their cute little snort! lol.... I hope I was helpful with the info...

English Bulldogs are great as pets. They are mild mannered, great big little dogs...lol. They do have powerful jaws that chew ALOT as puppies but unless you train them to be aggressive they aren't. I've been around many many of them and every one of them have been sweet and love to have their bellies rubbed.

They are terrific pets, and a dog is only as aggressive as the owner makes it, no dog is born that way,
