What is the best brand of teeth whitener that you can buy from a drug store or super market?
I've tried the Listerine Quick Dissolving strips and they are gross .

The Crest whitestrips claim to be the most effective, and our dentist recommended them if we chose not to have the dentist do the whitening. They're ok, but only do the front teeth too and are kind of sloppy to apply.

I know you asked which ones you can buy from a drug store or supermarket, but you should see if any spas or boutiques offer whitening services in your community. We have a little local franchise that offers teeth whitening -- a little specialty storefront operation, not a dentist. It offered a Christmas special for less than $100 (the cost of a few drugstore kits). They made a custom whitening tray like an orthodontist's retainer, fitted to your teeth, and give you a whitening gel. The gel lasts a long time, and replacement tubes are about $30. I don't know if you can get the gel cheaper on-line. It was a lot cheaper than whitening by our dentist (which would have had to be repeated in a few months anyway). My daughter uses the gel every other month for a few days, and it made a huge difference.

One tip that they gave us was that the goal of teeth whitening should be to match the color of the whites of your eye. Any whiter, and they said the whitening looks too artificial.

Supersmile is wicked, check it out at www.supersmile.com.
It bleaches and cleans at the same time when you brush.

As well as using the Supersmile buy some dental bleach over the Internet (from a company not ebay!). I get 20% caramide peroxide, 3 refills for just under £30 in the UK. www.nuwhite.net

You will see great results all for around £60! Don't pay £300+ to get them whitened at the dentist
