That is a very good question. And it deserves a good answer.
This question crosses peoples mind likely more than not.
Only God can read the heart! Was it to save yourself ? You can answer yes or no,but HE knows the real truth. You must see that others too would also hold out till the end if that were acceptable.
LIke in the day of Noah It was God that closed the door. You know there were evildoers banging on the door to get in Did God open it once HE shut it? NO.
There is no.. yes or no answer to your question. ONly the true GOD knows what will happen to you. How many hearts did you break, how many lives were affected by your choices etc etc etc. So why now.............HE knows and you can NOT fool HIM.
Almighty God and only HE can read your heart.

Why do I say no?
Because with this attitude, you would NOT be truly sorry.
You would be abusing and using His grace.
Thinking if I say the magic Jesus words, God will have to save me.
Wrong.
God saves those who are truly repentant from their hearts...not mockers and deceivers.
Sides...how do you know you will even have TIME to do so on your death bed?
You could die in a car crash or instantly die dead and not have any time to repent.
so no...you wouldn't.
Jesus isn't the idiot nor is God that Atheists think He is.
