Ok, first be civil, second be open minded...no one will take your answers to this question seriously if you don't approach it seriously and open minded. Here goes. I can not understand why some people do not believe Jesus was real and the son of God or at least a messenger of God. Lets just first exclude the bible and go to historical records. Many historical records have been found that show Jesus was real and was advocating reforms in Jewish laws set by the Pharisees, as well as Cesar's laws. He was taking down the harmful Pharisee's way of God and promoting the love and forgiveness of God. Second thing I want to approach is this. No one can say that Jesus was doing anything for wealth, fame, power, control, or political reasons. Through out history, in every country we can think of many great and wonderful people...but how many of them completely gave themselves to us literally. He did everything he could to show Gods love. With actual historical records why not believe? TY

I also believe that there are historical figures in other religions...I just happen to believe in Christ as my savior...records are held in Rome..please look this up so all can be informed. The flood was real and is scientifically called the holiesenous maxi mus (sorry for spelling) there is proof. As for other figures..Gaundi was real...Allah is God...we just worship him differently

Fear. Some people are afraid to accept things in history because they think that means they will have to be supportive of it. For instance some may doubt Muhammad existed or Buddha existed, because if they admit they were real people they may feel inclined to approve of them. But just because a figure is historical or an event is historical does not mean you have to support it. My great-great-great-great grandpa was an Indian chief who was brutally murdered. I don't like that, but I'll accept it as a fact anyway.
In the same way people think if they admit that Jesus was a historical person that it would be hard for them to deny his divine authority. Even the Jews in their Talmud admited that Jesus worked miracles and performed wonderous signs, but they just attribute it to sorcery. No one really challenged that Jesus was a man with great authority and power, not physical power but spiritual. If they accept Jesus as historical, they are pressured to accept him as divine.

There are no contemporaneous documents that mentions Jesus. The earliest accounts (including the bible) were written at least 4-5 decades after Jesus' alleged crucifixtion. Many scholars agree that some of the Josephus documents that mention Jesus have been forged.
I do not believe Jesus was real or the son of any god. There is no evidence that supports the existence of any god. Hence it would be very hard for me to believe there is a son.
Let's examine some of this historical records. Do they actually tell of a Jesus, son of god, that performed miracles alleged in the bible? Surely, that would have been ground breaking news (even back then). So why do you think no one thought to write any of that down at the time of occurence?
Check out the references below to see the problems with the rest of the non-contemporaneous documents.

In all due respect, you have your "facts" wrong. First, the best thing that can be said about Jesus existing is that it would not be surprising if he had. This is not a question of believe, just an objective view of the existing facts. Secondly, while there is a great deal of evidence of locations and civilizations of the Bible, there is absolutely none for any of the miracles or events such as creation, the flood, the exodus or any others. Also note, that despite whatever you hear in church, evolution is not a "believe" or conspiracy, it is a proven fact.
So, little evidence for the existence of Jesus, no evidence for his divinity or the existence of God, leads me to say that Christianity is no different than any other myth.

The so-called historical proof are obvious forgeries. The one in Josephus was obviously inserted later into the text because it interrupts two continuous paragraphs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_myth_hypothesis
So there's that.
And regarding Jesus' supposed innocence, my current theory is that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam were all invented as political propaganda to unite people under a single cultural identity/belief system. Once the Jewish racial group lost their rebellion in 70 CE, there was a space left that allowed those same people to invent a new religion on the ashes of the old. Later the Arabs invented their own version.

And have you ever read the Bible, because for every nice thing Jesus said he backed it up with the threat of eternal suffering in hell, and a Christian peace is only attained when everyone is forced into submission before a Christian god. That isn't peace, that's slavery, and that's immoral.

People can see videos of things, read history books, the proof could be staring them in the face but still have issues believeing. There are people out there that swear the holocaust never happened even with all the historical records. Someone people just have issues with the fact that if they can't see it, touch it, or if it didn't happen in front of them then it isn't possible. None the less Jesus died for them and maybe in passing they will see and find the truth and finally accept that which is true.

Can you believe that Buddha was real (he existed as per Buddhists) and the son of god or Krishna (he existed as per the Hindus) was the reincarnation of god and so on? If you can't believe those ideas, why shouldn't there be people who cannot believe in Jesus the way you do? That in itself shows you are not very open-minded. There is no proof that Jesus existed.

I believe Jesus was a real person but not necessarily the son of God!
He could have just been a crazy person who got many people to belive him.
He could have been an illusionist like Lance Burton and never revealed his secrets.
He could have just been a well-known guy who people liked to write stories about.
The bible could be mostly fiction. There is not much proof of the supernatural things from the bible, just people and places.
There is no physical proof of Jesus. They have looked and looked and it has all ended in disappointment.
I don't wanna sound like a sour puss, believe me I have been WANTING them to find proof, but so far NOTHING!

im not trying to be a pest or anyhting.. but u have to give each cultural god or messenger of god equal respect, even tho im not christian i think that yea jesus could have walked this earth but...... you should go reasearch other cultures as well nbecause sometimes we speak of things we cannot be sure of. many cultures have physicla proff present that one of their so to speak gods was amongst them at a certain period of time. again im completely agree wit hyou but i also believe that maybe you should look up things from other cultures cuz it may be out of ignorance but we do tend to believe in what we think is right and try to prove other people wrong. so take a look at that.. i feel u r a person who respects all religions, heck whose nos maybe you can find more info to back wat u r saying. because if we r gonna believe why should we believe in only one thing why not all of them??? just a thought
and to add its gandhi and he wasnt a god he was just a revolutionary and ur a little rusty on ur facts about god of other religions

Look more carefully. Jesus promoted the unconditional love of God.
Unconditional love sees nothing to forgive.
I know what they told you but look at what Jesus actually said. Not what people have told you he said. Re-read the parable of the prodigal son.
Love and blessings Don

Honey, if I don't believe in any god, then your premise is moot.
As to the so called "proof," I could provide equal "proof" for the existence of many other gods (and Jesus-like figures, since his story is predated by a number of pagan religions.)
