What is the purpose for the whole church to speak in tongues? Why is everyone in the entire church speaking in tongues? Why is it a bunch of babbling that doesn't make any sense? Do you really believe this is from God? 1 Cor clearly speaks for itself. It is also interesting that non christian cultures also experience the same performane to their gods (this is an ancient tradition). It was also an indication that the spirits were speaking through them. Gal 5 speaks of the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. This the only indication of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of the believe.

It used to be a tool for communicating in other languages. They used it in the preaching work to talk to various groups from various cultures who did not speak the same language.

Now, if someone does that, it is pointless. If the original use was to communicate, but now no one understands them, why use it? It's obviously unnecessary. They'd get more across if they just spoke English.

So why would God let them speak in tongues now if they don't need to and it takes time away from things people can actually understand? The answer is: He doesn't because he is reasonable. If God is not doing it, who is? That's a better question.

Now they think it is special although it is outdated and serves no purpose. If they knew the truth about speaking in tongues, they probably wouldn't do it since it must be linked to satanism. Just because it was used then, doesn't make it a sign of special powers now. Back then it had a use. Now it doesn't.

Anyone who seriously reads the Book of Acts knows that Speaking in Tongues is a valid expression of Christian Worship. Those who speak against it are very close to Blaspheming The Holy Ghost.

The teachings on amazing facts are false cult teaching's.

It is the initial evidence.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance" (Acts 2:4).

I did not read the article because whatever it said does not matter. I received the Holy Ghost and I spoke in tongues.

The reason is because of the pentecost. In the New Testament there is the story of after Jesus ascends, where the disciples have the holy spirit descend on them and they speak in tongues.

The town in acts 2 was like a center point, where many many people from different countries were. Think of it like rome. In acts 2 it even lists 14 different nationalities that were there.

now when they all started "speaking in tongues", some understood and heard it, and knew they were praising God. Others however heard them, and said these guys are drunk!

Now if you went to rome, and heard people speaking in a different language, just because you didn't understand them...would you say they were drunk? It would have had to have sounded weird and unusual for them to say they were drunk in Acts 2.

In this situation God gave some people the gift of tongues, and others the gift of interpretation.

Also, what about in 1 corinthians where paul says "i speak in tongues more than you all", but you should speak in tongues in private to edify yourself. Edify means to uplift spiritually.

Now alot of christians believe that speaking in tongues is speaking in a different earthly language.

How could praying in german, or french to God uplift yourself and edify yourself more than praying in english?

just a few things to think about :)

Interestingly the holy spirit is willing and fully capable of talking to anyone in the language that is native to them.

Thousands if not millions of people do this on a daily basis, so I'm not sure what purpose speaking in tongues serves.

I am stating my opinion without reading the article bc it is too long. People who speak in tongues do not have the Holy Spirit. They are only performing.

speaking in tongues is a gift from GOD and he gave the gift to certain members of his church. but the only way you can know what the person speaking in tongues are saying is to have an interpret of tongues to discern what the person is saying so the church can be blessed with the message

charismatic and pente churches are very emotions based faiths.alot goes along with the tounges...crying, dramatic music, dancing etc.
it is nothing less than a mob mentality at that point. and then of course the collection plate is passed once everyone is all good and worked up.

they will say that its the holy spirit praying to the father through you. so...lets see...god is talking to...himself.
