I have directly plugged my PS3 to my modem using a ethernet cable. My connection ISN'T wireless. Are my settings messed up? Pleeease help me out!! I've been worrying about this since I got the PS3!!!

From my experience, turn off the console.

Plug in your modem while the system is off. Put the ethernet cable and internet cable into its proper places. Let your modem boot up as far as it can while the system is off.

Afterward, turn on the system and literally wait a minute. If the system does not sign you into the network, then you need to adjust some settings. First, go the the settings option and go to network settings. Do the proper configurations for your modem.

I know with my modem, I have to let my modem completely boot up BEFORE turning on my PS3.

i got my ps3 4 days ago and i put an ethernet cable in it and connected 2 the computer and went internet browser on the ps3 it should take u to the playstation store or website i couldnt change the address so i changed the default instead of the playstation website 2 google then it worked for me and i was watching youtube on my tv but it doesnt play mingames i dont think the ps3s flash is high enough yet but i havnt upgraded mine 2 the latest version so maybe the later versions have beter flash.

You didn't give enough details. The best solution (if you want to have a connection on your PC and PS3 simultaneously) is to get a router (with VPN support). You have wires - get a wired router. It costs ~35$. Plug your modem into router (WAN) and PC and PS3 into other slots. Follow the instructions.
