Most likely a codec problem.
Try K-Lite Codec Pack.

If it's not working it can be the driver for your graphic card.
Also try an other media player and see if the problem still is there.

Check the graphics/video overlay settings under preferences of WMP11
Make sure you try to watch the video on the Primary display
