I am posting this for a friend. He can't find anywhere that will rent to people who own pits. It is a friendly little thing. Does anyone know of a website or references he can use to find a place? Looking in the paper hasn't worked for him.
Thanks, please help!

Maybe an online pit community could help him. Yahoo Groups may be a good place to start, as would his local breed club.

This is a common problem for people who have pit bulls - he really should have thought of this before getting one without having a stable home environment. . .

With the market value right now finding a rental that is affordable is extremely difficult. Having a pit bull makes it almost impossible! Although if your presidencies About it u may be able to make it happen.Getting an apartment is pretty much out of the question. Start planing if you haven't already to put up a couple hundred bucks just for your dog deposit. Renting from individuals is the best thing to do. It is more challenging, but in my experience worth it. Renting from an individual allows you to make a killer impression giving you more of an advantage to negotiate. Renting from an individual or dealing with a real estate agent, present the option of the landlord signing an bit exclusion form with their insurance company , and even present the option for the landlord to compose a contract waiving him of all responsibility , if the pit were to bit or attack a person or animal. The landlord would be in the clear,Keep in mind that in most cases the dog deposit is very high!

It maybe almost impossible. Unfortunately so many people are against the breed through ignorance that most landlords won;t allow them. The landlord's house insurance would no doubt have to reflect the fact a pit lived there so his premium may well rocket or some companies I have even heard of refusing coverage.

Has he tried advertising himself as looking for a place to rent mentioning the dog? Try Real Estate agencies and leasing agencies.

I wish him luck.

In some cities there are rental agents that specialize in helping pet owners find apartments or homes. Try posting at a petmart or petco.

Actually I'm not going to answer this but I know a lot of pit bull advocates on the Petfinder forum (petfinder.com) and they know a lot of info on this topic and I'm sure they would help.

Most places that won't rent are doing so because their insurance will go up. Many people where i live change "American pit bull " to " American stadforshire terrior " and that usually makes all the difference. good luck
