Hi Green,
I appreciate your question.
From time to time, it can be beneficial talking "things" over with those who we trust we can confide in. There is something to that human to human contact.
However, I would be very hesitant on talking or "praying" to someone who is especially dead; which in this case I assume "St. Jude" is.
The Bible clearly warns against making contact with the dead because in Eccl 9 the dead "know not anything." In Psalm 115:17 it says the dead "praise not the Lord." Anyone who is attempting to make contact with dead people are invariably invoking the presence of our adversary and / or his fallen angels. This is spiritualism and a very dangerous thing to get into.
Our loving Heavenly Father does not want to see us hurt and that is why He pronounces some of the strongest language possible against it (in OT times, psychics and sorcerers were stoned to death).
He is a tender Father and does not want His children getting mixed up in this "doctrine of devils" because it will destroy us.
The safest course to take is to go to the One person, Jesus Christ, who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin (Heb 4:15).
We can cast all our care upon Him because He cares for us and knows completely what concerns us (1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 138:8).

I had a Catholic friend give me a St. Jude medal because he thought I was a hopeless case as a pagan and lesbian. He was right - I'm still a heathen and still a lesbian. I do have the medal somewhere because I appreciate his kindness.

People believe Uri Geller bends spoons with his mind. Some people cannot function without having woo woo in their lives.

Only God can answer prayer, and it must be according to His will which He has already revealed to us in His Word.
