I just bought some brown sugar and I was curious to know if anyone out there knows how to keep it from drying out. I plan to use about half of it within the week, so that will be fine, but in the past I have had trouble keeping the remainder moist.

Thanks in advance

Seal it in a ziploc baggie.

Keep it in an air tight container like a ziploc bag.... the piece of bread will help... if it does get hard you can throw the sugar in the microwave for a few seconds to get the mositure back.

Put the bag of sugar into a zip lock bag with a damp paper towel and put it the veggie drawer of your fridge. The paper towel is used becasue it has no effect on flavor or texture of the sugar. Bread crumbles into the sugar and apples produce ethanol which can affect the flavor. The terra cotta brown sugar keepers will do the job but cost up to 10 dollars a piece.

Just keep it as airtight as possible. Put it in a ziplock bag or container with a tight sealing lid and keep it in the pantry. Fridge and freezer tend to make it clump more, not less.

place a piece of white or wheat bread in there and it will keep the sugar from turning into rock. My chef teacher in college showed us. It works

Put a piece of bread in it then keep it closed up. I promise it will stay moist forever, even after the bread gets stale. And you can keep it on the shelf and not have to refrigerate it.

Keep it in an airtight container. If it starts to dry up, put a piece of sliced apple in the container overnight and it should moisten back up for you.

My house always seems to have some brown sugar in the pantry so what we do is just keep it airtight and keep it in the pantry. Theres no need to refridgerate it.

keep in in a zip tight baggie with a saltine soda cracker in it. The cracker will not change the taste and will pull any moisture that happens to get into it which causes it to harden.

Keep it in a ziploc bag with an apple wedge.
