Contact the American Red Cross, they will be able to give her the assistance she needs. If you are on military orders and you have a valid ID you do NOT have to have a passport to get back into the country. I'm not sure if that goes for family/dependents though.

Soldiers do not need passports to go overseas, as long as their travels are duty-related. A copy of their military orders, along with appropriate picture ID, foots the bill just fine.

A soldier does not need a Passport if he/she is travelling from one duty station to another. They travel on ID card and travel orders. Certain circumstances apply. While on leave in another country he must travel on a passport. Travel then is not in the line of duty.

Of you are traveling officially and a passport is needed you will get an OFFICIAL PASSPORT to be used for pfficial use only. Not many places require it, but places like the UAE or anywhere you might have to fly through a civilian passport, the military will have you get one.
If you are just traveling to travel then normal passport rules apply.
And you keep the passport for the duration of the official travel.
Same with dependents. My wife had to get hers, with visa, and once we PCSed from Italy they punched her passport as invalid. Now for Guam she has another official passport.
but we both maintian civilian ones as well, they are good for 10 years.

Most do not have them.
The ones that do keep them at home in a safe or on there person if Stationed in Germany or Korea. Only need them there to enter into another country.
Military Order are the equivalent of a temporary pass port.
Do not need one to join. Good Idea to get one first. If you get stationed in Germany or Korea there are place to get one if you want to leave the country.
I spent two years stationed in Germany with out one did not get one till I wanted to visit another Country next to it.

the entire time i was in the marine corps i never had a passport. when we flew into kuwait before the war started all we did was present our military ID and they put our numbers into the system the same as when we went into iraq. On my return from iraq my unit stopped off in australia two diffrent times and we were never asked for our passports simply our military ID's.

It depends on where you go for the need of a passport. We do keep them on us...You get it after you come in the service if one is needed.

If you're traveling on orders or with your unit, you don't need one or can use you I.D. card. However, if you're traveling on your own I.E. a vacation, you will need a passport and that would be up to you to keep track of.

You typically don't need a passport. If you do, you get an official passport.
