It makes no sense at all. However, there was a time in history when a number of Jews were "money lenders," this being one of the few ways they could earn a good living. That led to stereotypes, such as Shylock in "The Merchant of Venice."
There's another answer, which I offer tentatively, as it is only my own hunch. Jewish people traditionally place a high value on *justice.* In fact, much of our so-called "Old Testament" provides details about how people should deal with each other in a just and fair manner. When the concern for justice extends to financial matters (i.e., paying a fair price for goods and services), it can be misinterpreted as greed.
I look forward to reading others' opinions.

Christianity was invented to contain and control the slaves of the Roman Empire, and maximize heir profitbility around 313AD. One of the 'sins' imposed on the slaves was that slaves who died with money would go to hell. The purpose of this sin was to prevent the slaves, now called 'serfs' from competing with the Roman nobility for wealth. The slaves were kept under control through imposed poverty, ignorancd and terror. However, the Jews could not be made into slaves by making them christians because they were Jews by birthright and would not succumb to the slavemaking dogma of the christian religion, so not being slaves (serfs) they did compete with the Roman nobility for profits. Because of this, they were persecuted, and the christians constantly told the slaves that Jews were sinful money grubbers and should be exterminated. Schemes and efforts to exterminate the Jews in the world still continues in christendom today.

After Christianity was established as the dominant religion in Europe, money lending fell to the Jews as Christians felt that it was wrong. This continued throughout the middle ages well into the Renaissance and is the origin of this stereotype.

I am not a Zionist, Anti Semitic or a Jew. I just think it`s almost become inbred as they`ve been persecuted throughout history and therefore tend to be very careful with money, wanting to have something for a rainy day. `

Jewish people are not money hungry- at least no more than the rest of the world.
The Jewish people are blessed by God--They are His chosen people.
We may very well be in the Age of the Gentiles right now , but the day is coming very soon when the Lord or God is going to draw His beloved people unto Himself.
The Bible says about the Jews, "I will bless those who bless you ,and I will curse those who curse you".

Because the Jewish culture emphasizes wise use of money and earning money through education and hard work. Obviously, this makes some people jealous, and instead of getting off their braindead butts and learning and earning themselves, they prefer to badmouth others.
BTW, I am not Jewish, I'm an atheist raised Baptist.

Though often chastised by God for leaving God's way, He does have a special place in His heart for them and so He has blessed them as well as chastised them throughout many thousands of years.
It is all these blessings (mostly in wealth) which causes gentiles to think that money is all they are interested in.
