You hear it all the time "Identity Theft". If you see someone digging in dumpsters, especially the big ones apartment units have and you know it's not anyone live there would you report it to the police? Or better, should you?
I have notice it for the second time now and don't know how to aproach it. I shred my personal papers and dispose them some where else.

Both times these people pulled up with their van and we don't have homeless people around our apartment complex. In fact it's a real quiet neighborhood. We have a separate disposal for glass and cans.

If the dumpster is on private property, then the person may be trespassing. Call the police, and let them straighten it out.

No I would go down and talk to the person and see what he is getting. He might just be homeless and getting cans to recycle not all dumpster divers are thieves.

Ask him what hes doing there. Most dumpster divers wont be confrontational.
