I like Max Lacado for non-fiction.
I normally don't like alot of Christian fiction, but I have one author who I really enjoy - that is Francine Rivers. She is a first class writer, and her characters are real. The good people have weak areas and struggles and the bad people still do good things on occasions. If you are looking for a way above average set of books, read her "Mark of the Lion" set of three books. They are expensive, but unique, realisitic and make me want to be a better person.

My renowned Christian fiction author is probably Ted Dekker, yet i've got in elementary terms examine his Circle Trilogy (Black, purple, and White). I especially propose them. that's a extreme-paced action trilogy some youthful guy who wakes up in yet another international everytime he falls asleep. He alternates between the "genuine" international and the "dream" international, yet it is which? each and each has an exceedingly annoying subject that he has to handle. I additionally love Frank Peretti's The Visitation. i like something of his works ok, yet this one is impressive. The communicate of the burnt-out pastor is amazingly person-friendly to narrate to, and it is likewise exciting to work out how the individuals of the small city handle the self-professed messiah that comes traveling. so some distance as non-fiction Christian living books, i like Jerry Bridges (fairly Pursuit of Holiness and discipline of Grace), Paul Tripp (fairly contraptions interior the Redeemer's hands), and C. S. Lewis (that's all sturdy).

EDIT

Quite serious, I am not being light with my answer. I really don't bother with spiritually bent books outside of the Bible anymore. They tend to teach in their story some falsehood or another. I need the pure, not the watered down and synthetic.

End EDIT

Fiction - I tend to stay away from it.

Non-fiction - I relate to Paul's intensity most, but I really like the sensitivity of love from John. Peter is pragmatic, which I tend to be most times in meditation. I really would like to be more like Jesus. He just nails a topic right on. I don't even have to think about what He says. It just lays there for you to accept or reject. I know He didn't actually write His words down with pen, but His Spirit made it happen. That is good enough for me.

Grace and peace to all.

I love Phillip Yancey and Max Lucado. Why? Because they are so simplistic in their approach to living the christian life, but still very convicting as well.,
