If you did not open this account, you should contact the credit card company and report this as identity theft. You should also make a police report. The credit card company should ask you to fill out paperwork and will investigate. If they believe you, you will be off the hook for the charges. If they don't believe you, you'll have to prove you had no knowledge of the card.

Of course all this means whoever fraudulently opened the account will be prosecuted for the crime. Don't want to send your mother or sister to jail, then be prepared to pay that bill.

I would call the credit card company and tell them you never applied for the card. Then go to the police station and have a police report made. CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORTS. Make sure that there aren't going to be any more surprises, if there are report them as well on the police report and to the credit card companies. They will tell you where the purchases were made when you talk to the fraud department. Ask your sister and mother if they had anything to do with it if you suspect them. Who knows maybe one of them will be honest.

CALL THE POLICE perferably when your mom and/or sister is home. Wait outside when the officer arrives and tell them that you think one of them is responsible. Depending on the cop, they may ask your mother and sister if they know anything about it. They will tell on themselves but even if they dont, they might be more willing to help to pay if they know that they might face a bit of jailtime.
Put a fraud alert on your account (call one of the big 3 and they will contact the other two). this will stop ANYONE from opening more accounts...it might be that there are other accounts that just have not made it to collections yet
you need to know this
too
this sucks
(change yourmail to a post office box)
they could be ripping up mail to avoid you getting it)

can't you get a copy of the bill? from there, call the stores and find out what was purchased? I have never had the problem, but that seems to be the best way to do it.
