I've always said many paths, one destination. I'd say whatever path you can navigate the best.

Time to do a lot of follow up reading, and research, etc etc.
To see if there is any historical evidence (proof) for what they claim, etc etc. And a lot of headbanging so that you know if it is logical and reasonable or not?
I would say forget about 'religion' because they only endorse their own... but look at the 'information' instead ... and reject the clearly impossible claims they make.

I look at a lot of documentaries (about all manner of subjects) to help get the grey matter working...

Only you can determine that; I say that in all seriousness. Each of us must seek God with all the resources and integrity of heart, mind, and spirit. And it must be done in humility. For some people, choosing is so obvious and easy, it happens in childhood; for others, it is the hard work of a lifetime. Since what you choose affects this life and the next, is it not worth the effort?

Ah, that's easy. Go for the one that is willing to make claims that are testable and has actual evidence to back up these claims. Anyone that requires to have faith in their ideals in order for them to make sense is essentially admitting that there is no reason to believe anything they say.
