Con's is if you over do it you can dilute your blood salts and causing death even.

"If you drink too much water it lowers the concentration of salt in your blood so that it is lower than the concentration of salt in cells," says Professor Robert Forrest, a consultant in clinical chemistry and forensic toxicology at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.

you don't only need to drink water if you're thursty. If you're thursty you are already dehydrated. Yes drinking a huge ammount of water is called "water poisioning" and can kill you, but thats gallons within an hour. It's a duretic, obviously so you'll urinate a lot. But drinking the reccommended makes your skin more nurished, it makes you over all heathier appearing, and can help dehydration headaches (which are often felt before thurst)

honestly there are much more pros than cons.

In addition to the answers given, it also assists in the passage of waste through the intestine. As a doctor once said, "You can't run a sewer without water."
