I live in the USA. When I've lived in Europe, I generally have not had much problem meeting women, because they're out and about more than in America. Over there, I could meet a nice girl in a store, on a train, at a tourist site. In the USA, they make themselves scarce and only seem to materialize in bars (why?). As it happens, I absolutely hate bars. I don't like drunk people. And I don't like spending money just to get into a club or whatever.

Forget the bars. Find a community newspaper and see what events and clubs are in the area. It's far easier meeting someone for a marathon, a walk-a-thon, a hiking club, a sketching group, a mentor program for kids, etc. All you need is a 'group' and someplace that's not your home.
In other words--get out to what else is happening in the community and talk to people. Doesn't matter if it's at bus stops, at the beach, at the park (walking a pet is a sure fire way!), biking, a reading club, ANYTHING. Women are everywhere. And most of what's out there is actually free.
Try some volunteer work. They need dog socializers at the humane society for instance. A lot of the other volunteer jobs are blowing balloons up, folding flyers, doing small things, nothing huge. You meet a lot of people that way AND you have more to talk about since you're now more 'interesting' because you're doing more than going out to bars or being a couch potatoe as most guys are.

Some people join singles groups, and they do different outings together like dances, museums, etc. You might have luck if you join a club or group that you are interested in, such as sports, book clubs, etc. Meeting others through friends is also a good way, sometimes. Good Luck!

I'm with you and you don't want to meet girls in bars/clubs. Best bet is to make friends with new people and meet other girls that way. Or if your in college that is a good place to meet women too.

There's other ways to meet women, stores, library, laundarmat, bakery or coffee shops. You wouldn't want a lush from a bar anyways!

You can still meet a girl in a store here. Try a grocery store, she has to eat too. Also, try to get one of your friends to set you up. Sometimes that works...

Try going to the library, or take a walk in a park. If you open your eyes wide enough you might see someone looking back.

Meet them in the places you like to go/feel comfortable. There are plenty of women in churches, gyms, schools
